Design Lives On

The Phillips Brothers Saw Mill has been in my family for generations, and is a National Historical Site. I grew up watching my great uncles cut wood to sell for timber and make boxes for whine (and other products). Presently, I am in the process of helping design a non-profit with the Phillips Historical Foundation (The Living Family Trust) so that future generations will have the chance to appreciate our ancestors and our heritage.

So much designing went into building the Saw Mill, the Box Factory and the Machine Shop. There are several steam powered tractors and other logging equipment on the property as well. With technology now, all we have to do is push a button and we got it. Not that it’s a bad thing, but it’s nice to see the process of a design completed over a hundred years ago still working today. And it will continue to work for others to witness and cherish through the design of the non-profit.
